Early 20th Century Vehicles for the WVR

I am modeling the 1920’s – 1930’s and I have found that there are few options for vehicles. Over the past few years, I have purchased some Jordan Highway Miniatures from eBay. These kits are finicky to assemble but they are about the only game in town. I just received a few more and thought I’d take a break from structures and assemble a few I will need for the scenes I am working on.

I need a few trucks for the W.W. Keel coal company, so I am assembling a 1923 Mack dump truck, I have a couple of these kits. I also am assembling a 1928 Ford Model A Tudor at the same time. I just got done placing the almost microscopic lenses in the headlights after dotting the inside with some chrome paint. I am so far impressed with the silver paint pen shown here. I used it on the radiator, too, and it looks very much like chrome.

I 3D printed a mask to use to paint the name on the side of the dump bed shown here. I have done this before but not with such small print.

The brushed on acrylic paint does not leave the best-looking finish, but from a distance the dump truck appears used which is the look I was going for.

The young man leaning on the fender of his daddy’s Model A is out for a drive and stopped to talk with the nice lady over at Wicked Wanda’s place. I scratch built the structure from pictures of the Bar Mills kit and the figures are 3D printed. The old bouncer just around the corner sits in the shade in his rocker with a shotgun in his lap. I still have some scenery work to do and some random items to add to the scene.
